The basic characteristics of solar cells.

2023-11-14

The basic characteristics of solar cells are the polarity of solar cells, the performance parameters of solar cells, and the voltammetry characteristics of solar electric environmental protection batteries.

1, the polarity of solar cells

Silicon solar cells are generally made of P+/N type structure or N+/P type structure, P+ and N+, indicating the conductive type of semiconductor material in the front light layer of the solar cell; N and P represent the conductive type of the semiconductor material on the back of the solar cell. The electrical properties of a solar cell are related to the properties of the semiconductor material used to make the cell.

2. Performance parameters of solar cells

The performance parameters of solar cell are composed of open circuit voltage, short circuit current, maximum output power, filling factor and conversion efficiency. These parameters are a sign to measure the performance of solar cells.

3 voltammetry characteristics of solar cells

The P-N junction solar cell consists of a shallow P-N junction formed on the surface, a strip and finger shaped front ohmic contact, a back ohmic contact covering the entire back surface, and an anti-reflective layer on the front.

When the battery is exposed to the solar spectrum, photons with energies less than the bandgap width Eg do not contribute to the battery output. Photons with energies greater than the bandgap (Eg) contribute energy (Eg) to the battery output, and energies less than (Eg) are consumed as heat. Therefore, in the design and manufacturing process of solar cells, it is necessary to consider the impact of this part of the heat on the stability and life of the battery.
